Most associate sexual dysfunction with erectile dysfunction. They’re not wrong but also not completely correct. Decreased libido is another major concern for men and women alike. Disorders of orgasm and decreased sexual satisfaction occur commonly with aging, psychosocial issues, and medications. Painful intercourse (Dyspareunia) is another major concern for many women as they age due to hormonal changes and how it affects the vagina.

Treatment is directed at causes such as uncontrolled hypertension or diabetes, hormone deficiency, lifestyle changes, and medication changes to avoid the side effects that may be contributing. Symptomatic management includes medication (Viagra and Cialis are a couple), PRP or neurotoxin injections into the penis or vagina, Alma DUO shockwave therapy, and for women, the Femilift vaginal rejuvenation laser treatment. This treatment is also helpful for Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI), a major concern for many women.

THE DUO BY ALMA
Erectile dysfunction and dyspareunia, or painful intercourse, can be addressed with DUO shockwave therapy. This painless, 15-minute treatment utilizes ultrasound waves to stimulate the vascularity in the penis or vagina to cause new blood vessels to grow in the area. This improves erectile function and stamina for men. For women, it improves the vaginal mucosa and moisture as well as clitoral vascularity. For women with more significant concerns of vaginal vitality, incontinence concerns, and outward appearance we have the FemiLift. With a sterile cover over the laser, we insert the handpiece internally and treat the vagina by firing the laser in a circle every centimeter of the vault. This causes a complete resurfacing to improve vascularity, smooths the texture, and increases moisture response, which results in enhanced sexual satisfaction. The laser can also be used to resurface and shape the vaginal labia to create a more aesthetic appearance.
