Erectile Dysfunction

The clinical term for shockwave therapy is low intensity shockwave therapy (LiSWT). It’s a noninvasive therapy that’s been used in orthopedics for years to help heal broken bones, injured ligaments, and injured tendons.  LiSWT has also been used to improve wound healing. Using targeted high-energy sound waves, LiSWT can speed up tissue repair and cell growth.  Erections rely on healthy blood flow to the penile tissue. Shockwave therapy is viewed favorably as a way of repairing and strengthening blood vessels in the penis and improving blood flow.  Increasing blood flow to the penis is the same goal as more traditional ED treatments, such as oral medications, including sildenafil (Viagra) and tadalafil (Cialis).

Female Sexual Dysfunction (FSD)

For many women, intercourse helps to meet a basic human need for love, acceptance and intimacy. Yet, medical reports indicate that half of women worldwide will experience sexual dysfunction or pain during sex at some point during their lives.

Fortunately, there’s relief in the form of medical shockwave treatments. Shockwave therapy, as a treatment for women’s sexual health, can address underlying medical conditions of women’s sexual dysfunction – treating the cause, not the symptoms.

For FSD, the most common complaints involve:

  • Interest/desire disorder

  • Sexual arousal disorder

  • Orgasmic disorder

  • Pain disorder

  • Decreased sexual pleasure or pain during intercourse

  • Poor lubrication, especially when the vaginal canal is too loose (less sensation) or too tight (discomfort)

  • Difficulty or inability in achieving an orgasm

Women also commonly experience symptoms of urological disorders:

  • PVD

  • CPPS

  • Stress Urinary Incontinence

Musculoskeletal Pain

If you’ve ever struggled with a sports injury or dealt with an ache that just wouldn’t mend, your body might have benefited from extra help during the healing process. Shockwave therapy can offer such help, jump-starting the body’s ability to regenerate new tissue. It also decreases your pain by directly stimulating your nerves at the site of the injury. Though the name of the treatment makes it sound painful, it’s only mildly uncomfortable for most people. It’s often prescribed as a treatment for patients who have sports injuries like a golfer’s elbow, tennis elbow, or pulled hamstring. It’s also administered to patients who experience pain in their soft tissues, such as that caused by plantar fasciitis — a painful condition that affects the heels of the feet.

Shockwave therapy may be used to:

  • Increase circulation around injured soft tissues

  • Break down calcified deposits (like kidney stones)

  • Stimulate cells that generate new bone tissue and connective tissue

  • Reduce pain by overstimulating nerve endings in the affected area
